Begin with freshly-dried hair -- either air- or blow-dried. Apply mousse evenly throughout your hair. To create large waves, you can either twist four sections of hair into a chignon, or bun, and pin them to the scalp for several minutes; alternatively, you can use a curling iron.

Wrap a 2-inch section of hair around the heated curling iron in a spiral. Don't roll it all the way to the scalp, since the style calls for smooth, straight roots. After several seconds, release the hair slowly.

Apply hairspray to the curl and leave it. Section off another piece of hair and repeat the process until your entire head of hair has been curled with the iron and misted with hairspray.

This style works best if you have long hair. If not, consider hair extensions to fake the length, which Jessica Simpson did for the film.

The chignon method works best if your hair is naturally wavy to begin with.
